From 23 to 27 January 2023, the Pan-African Agency of the Great Green Wall (PAGGW), as part of the implementation of its ten-year Priority Investment Plan (PIPD) 2021-2030, is holding its 2023 residential seminar in Bamako, Mali. As an inclusive and participatory forum for exchange among the main stakeholders implementing the Great Green Wall, the objectives of the residential seminar are: – To review the status of the achievements of the 2022 operational programme; – To take stock of the process of establishing the “National Coalitions around the Great Green Wall”; – To share successful experiences and lessons learned for greater synergy among stakeholders; – Information sharing by the technical and financial partners within the framework of the Great Green Wall Accelerator; – To discuss the identified national and regional projects; – To review the process of developing the Multi-State Integrating Programme (PIME) and other partner programmes; – To draw up the three-year programme for 2023, 2024 and 2025, taking into account the global objectives and indicators set out in the five programmatic pillars of the PIPD and commensurate with the ambition displayed by each country. – To strengthen the partnership for better mobilisation of financial resources to scale up interventions Participants include PAGGW experts, the National Directors and the monitoring-and-evaluation (M&E) experts of the member States, the representative of the African Union, the representatives of the technical and financial partners (UNDP, UNEP, UNCCD, AfDB, World Bank, EIB, EU, GCF, IFAD, FAO, GEF, AFD, ICRAF, BirdLife International, AFAR-GMV, World Economic Forum, MOSAIC SOS Sahel, CSE of Senegal, OHMi Tessékéré …), the representatives of the relevant sub-regional organisations (CILSS, OSS, LCBC, NBA…), the representatives of the University of Ségou and the Rural Economy Institute, the representatives of Mali’s sectoral departments (Planning/Finance, Environment, Agriculture, Water, Youth, Gender, Decentralisation, etc.), the representatives of civil society, the representatives of the national and regional private sector…
